That's right, Meenie... this happens when you are so unfair with a Roma supporter! 8)
I recorded Dirty Boy in a cold italian winter, alone, without knowing anything about this project, only because MY LOYALTY DEMANDED IT... and that's enough for me...

(but hey, I would blow vuvuzelas for a year if they inlude me!)
anything anyplace anywhere for no reason at all

Well i would but i'm still in the process of converting the band into Cardiacs lovers,i have Mike,Bill and Tim on the turn so far but the others are not so sure yet,Ed hates them and would not do it unless there was some kind of glory associated with it!

Wow. There are some sharp cookies here! Good work on the deduction front! Yep, I was on one of the Scaras’ tracks. It’s ace, but I’m already a fan of the band (who I first met at a gig when someone introduced me because I was wearing a Cardiacs T-Shirt. THE VERY SAME ONE I AM WEARING NOW *cue Twilight Zone theme…* but that’s a coincidence. And I do have more than one T-shirt. Honestly….) so I may be slightly biased.

Anyway, Scaras were the support at one of the Astoria shows a few years back, so some of you may be aware of them. The other track I’ve heard is indeed Eureka Machines, another really cool band, in a more Wildhearts-meets-ELO type vibe. Chris (singer) is guitarist in Sisters of Mercy for anyone whose bag that is.

Bic is organising it from what I understand, and you’ll be delighted to hear that you’ll be spared a Loqui submission! I believe it’s pretty much done though in terms of submissions, I think the deadline was a couple of weeks ago. I’m seeing Steve (Scaras) tonight so I’ll see what it’s OK to mention publically.

For those with reservations, I completely understand, but I think it comes down to people’s views on covers as a concept in general. Personally I love ‘em. I think half of the fun of great music is seeing what you can do with it to take it in a different direction. For those who have seen Tim solo over the years he effectively covers his own material by presenting it very different acoustically than it is with the band. Bodysbad strikes me as a particularly fine example from memory. But only my opinion of course, and there’s obviously no right or wrong with such things.

Who's putting the album together?

My band would love to contribute a song, if possible :)

Dougie,

The only ones I know for definite are Jason Pegg of Clearlake, Eureka Machines (both of whose contributions I've heard and they're brilliant) and The Scaramanga Six (who I think are doing two) but I did read a list of a few others elsewhere which I forget now. Both Ultrasound and Julianne Regan were apparently doing Cardiacs-related things, but whether this included tracks for the album I don't know.

...i hear that those contributing stuff what's considered too duff (stuff and duff rhyme - i don't really mean it) for the album might nevertheless have their tracks freely downloadable from Cardiacs website...
