I really wish they had released more stuff with Stan...Call of the West is one of my favorite New Wave albums of all time! Love the drum machines on that one. Stan is a fantastic singer, I especially love the song he did with Stewart Copeland, "Don't Box Me In". Dark Continent has its moments but isn't quite as great...there's a really cool disc called The Index Masters that has their debut EP (with a great cover of "Ring of Fire"!) and lots of live tracks. Even if Stan didn't do much with him, I'm starting to get into his solo stuff...The Big Heat is a pretty great album!

Thanks for the links. They're even more entertaining to watch!

Stan appears on a couple of recent Frank Black and the Catholics albums, doing this and that...

on 'Show Me Your Tears' he's credited with harmonica, melodica, banjo, percussion, vocals, as well as production on five songs...on 'Devil's Workshop' he plays keyboards...

like anyones actually interested...

(winds up his harmonium, launches into the tune 'The Sun Has Got His Hat On, clears throat...)

"abnego's got his nerd on,
hip hip hip hooray,
abnego's got his nerd on
and he's coming out to play"

WT, you have warmed my heart. I haven't listened to the solo albums for a long time, there are some very nice short instrumentals if i recall.

I generally find harmonica an irritating noise, sad old blues -- but in Stan's hands it just sounds like the Wild West; and anyone who plays melodica as a proper instrument (rather than something from Woolworths) deserves laudation as they say. Banjo... hmmm.

Did anyone mention abnego that you passed the 500-post marker yesterday -- keep busy !

"God is in the details." I also noticed that Ady has made over 600, so he should keep nice and busy too.

I'm gonna hold back a bit, i'd dread to be called a Cardiacs Expert -- i might ask for a special one like what schlep's got. 'Johnny Come Lately' might be good.
